I studied film-making at the WA Screen Academy, have written and directed several short films, produced my own web comic, performed in the Sydney Opera house and in numerous theatre productions throughout WA. I’m a composer and songwriter and host my own radio show on a community station in the southern suburbs of Perth. For the last four years I have been utilising my variety of experience to work with children as an entertainer and healthcare facilitator.
I love chatting to kids and playing games using imagination. Exploring ideas about how the world works, things that are awesome or weird, and the endless supply of “what ifs” that kids come up with.
Picking just one is tough! But if I have to I’ll go with Lilo from Lilo and Stitch.
During a game of musical bobs we were trying out different dance moves, taking turns to come up with them. ‘Dance like a fish’ and ‘dance like a bird’ came up, then a six year old girl said we should try ‘dancing like a bowl’. They all looked at me. So I nodded and dropped to my stomach, bent my arms and legs backwards and held them there, and then twelve six year old’s did the same. And together we danced like bowls.
The fact that their entire aim is to bring fun to kids. That’s something I can get behind without any qualms whatsoever.
