Hello, my name is Vanessa. I live west of Brisbane with my husband, three children and pet dog Daisy. As a children’s fitness coach at my local PCYC, I have both formal and practical skills running workshops and working with children. I have always had a keen interest for circus and in 2016, I was lucky enough to go to Melbourne and train with Circus Training Australia, which added even more exciting skills to my repertoire of both performing and teaching. Not only do I love the FUN elements of circus play, I also love the physical and cognitive benefits that come with learning a new skill through play. As an Allied Health student, I am constantly reminded in my studies how important fun, fitness and friendship is for a happy and healthy lifestyle- getting to promote that through my work is amazing!!
I have lots of things I like to do in my spare time. These include going for walks with Daisy, ballet classes, gardening (I particularly love succulents and cacti) but most of all learning new things- especially new tricks with my circus toys. Every Sunday my family has creative time where we make art together, our favourite activity is drawing together. If I had more spare time I think I would go on more picnics with lots of bubble blowing and fairy bread.
Hula Hoops is my favourite circus toy, it is amazing how many tricks you can do with them. The first piece of circus equipment I ever used was a hoop and once I started I couldn’t stop. I love seeing people’s faces when they watch me perform some of the amazing tricks that can be done with hula hoops.
Birthdays are exciting and are days of great happiness where memories are made! They only come around once a year, so it is important that it’s an extra special day. I love that I get to help celebrate with people on their special day. I especially love when I get to share one of my favourite things (circus) with them and all their friends too!
There are just too many to choose just one. I think a common favourite memory I take form all birthday parties, is the look on a child’s face transforming from concentration to complete joy when they learn a trick. It is so lovely to see a child feel pleased with themselves when they have achieved a fun new skill.
The team at Fly by Fun have the common goal of bringing fun and professionalism to all aspects of our work. Everyone is friendly and we always look forward to working together. I love that we all enjoy what we do and get to be involved in people’s events by making it extra special with our services.
